Sport fishing
The high numbers of blue-ribbon fish in Senegalese waters, particularly sailfish and blue marlins, makes our country the Mecca of sport fishing, where various IGFA world records have been reached. Sport fishing, which is organized from hotels, clubs and fishing centres, is practised throughout the year. The high season runs from May to November, when you have permanently clear skies, excellent visibility and maximum sunlight. In Senegal, you can also practise other forms of sport fishing, such as surf-casting, from Saint-Louis to Cayor, through to the "Petite Côte", where the sport fisher can catch the acrobatic sailfish. He can also practise "palangrotte" (hand-lining) or ground-fishing, or even trolling, from the Saloum Islands to Cap Skirring.
Underwater or subaquatic fishing: thanks to the rocky areas, submarine sites and reefs in the Cape-Verde peninsula, underwater or diving fishing can be practised throughout the year, providing you with an opportunity to appreciate the richness of the sea bottom. Insurance is required for underwater fishing, which is authorized without an aqualung.
Species: skates, sharks, barracudas, wahoos, tilefish, jacks, bluefish, little tunnies, blue marlins, dolphin fish, yellow tails, groupers, tarpons, weevers, ballan wrasses, winter flounders, snappers, greater amberjacks, leerfish, Brazilian groupers, threadfins, red carps.

Senegal :
Senegal is an air and maritime crossroads located on the westernmost tip of the African continent south of the Sahara, between the latitudes of 12°30 and 16°30 north, and 11°30 and 17°30 longitude west. It is bordered by Mauritania in the North, Guinea Bissau and Guinea Conakry in the South, the Atlantic Ocean in the West, and Mali in the East.
A small enclave, the Gambia, cuts through the country in its southern part.
Health matters
Antimalarial treatment is recommended. Vaccination against yellow fever is highly recommended, and even required for travellers who have been in an endemic yellow fever area.
Nationals of ECOWAS member countries and from the European Union do not need an entry visa for Senegal. Only a national identity card is required for travellers on trips organized by professional tourist agencies.
Senegal has signed the New York convention on customs facilities (exemption from customs duties for certain articles).
