AIR SENEGAL INTERNATIONAL 11 BILLION TURNOVER IN ONE YEAR " LE MATIN " 15 JANUARY 2002
Air Senegal International (ASI) will soon round off its first year of activity. ASI management has shown more than excellent results, with a turnover of CFAF 11 billion .
The Senegalese-Moroccan company, Air Senegal International will celebrate its first birthday on 22 February. The first year has been more than satisfactory for the company' s managing department, which has realized a turnover of CFAF 11 billion, as against a 7 billion previous forecast.
Air Senegal International (ASI), 51% of the capital of which belongs to Royal Air Maroc (RAM) and 49% to the Senegalese State, has largely overrun its forecast. ASI, which started with two planes, a Boeing 737 - 200 and a Dash 8 Q 300, now needs to buy two additional planes, with places for 124,000 passengers instead of the 98,000 used for the first year. A Boeing 757 and 737 will soon be purchased by the Senegalese-Moroccan company.
ASI has been servicing Bamako, Conakry, Las Palmas, Nouakchott, Praia, Bissau, Abidjan, Banjul, Ouagadougou and Cotonou, since 01 November 2001. As from March 2002, the airline company will also service new connections to Africa, namely Lomé, Niamey, and also to Europe. The USA will be covered in the medium term.
A meeting with the media and Air Senegal International managing deparment is planned for 17 January, at Novotel Hotel, during which the management department will assess the year and talk about its forecasts.
