Air Senegal International (ASI), which was created one year ago has achieved " very satisfying results ", with a turnover of CFAF11 billion (Euros16.6 million) in 2001, a press release of the Senegalese Moroccan company revealed. The company, of which 51% is held by Royal Air Maroc and 49% by the Senegalese government, has exceeded its turnover forecasts (CFAF7 billion), and has also exceeded the number of passengers transported (from 98,000 expected to 124,000 actually transported), the press release indicates. ASI, which has two planes (a Dash 8 and a Boeing 737), made 24 national flights and 48 weekly international flights in 2001. It is contemplating purchasing two additional aircraft next March, in order to service new destinations in Africa (Lomé and Niamey) and Europe (Paris), and also increase the frequency of its flights. In addition to its flights within Senegal, ASI also currently services Bamako, Conakry, Las Palmas, Nouakchott, Ouagadougou and Cotonou. Its rate of flight occupation is 61% on all its destinations, according to the release.
